Brantes is an old fortified village perched on the northern flank of Mont Ventoux. Nestling on the border of the Drôme Provençale region, it towers above the Toulourenc valley. It looks just like the villages depicted in Provencal nativity scenes.

Once you've crossed the bridge over the départementale 136, you'll only have a few meters to go before you arrive. The stone washhouse on the bend in the road is a reminder of the difficulty of obtaining water in these mountainous regions.
