Surrounded by vineyards and dominated by the ruins of its feudal castle, Séguret is one of France's "most beautiful villages", a title richly deserved.
You're sure to fall under the spell of this village, with its cobbled streets and fountain-decorated squares.

From the houses at the foot of the village, you can see the remarkable remains of medieval fortifications, including the Porte Reynier, also known as the "Portail de la Bise", and the Porte des Huguenots or "Portail neuf".

Follow the main street to the listed Mascarons fountain and the adjacent 1680 single-handed clock.

Continue along the left-hand street to the Chapelle Sainte-Thècle, or Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, which serves as an exhibition space. A little further on is the communal oven.

Keep climbing and you'll come to the Romanesque church of Saint-Denis and its crenellated bell tower. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Dentelles de Montmirail and the valley from the orientation table.

Go back down to the left and reach the Place des Arceaux, shaded by a foliage of plane tree branches married together by cuttings, and whose trees are classified as "Arbres Remarquables de France" (Remarkable Trees of France).

Return to the village entrance along the lower rampart.

The origin of the village name "Séguret" comes from the Provençal "Segur", meaning "safe". Indeed, the village clinging to the backdrop of the Dentelles, hidden behind its ramparts, must have inspired security in uncertain times.

COUP DE COEUR
Every year, Séguret celebrates Christmas with the greatest respect for Provencal traditions, with its "Cacho Fio" ceremony on December 24, its living nativity scene, the 13 desserts, the exhibition of master santonniers from Provence and its renowned midnight mass, preceded by a pastoral performed by Ségurétains since 1960.
