Hiking offers many advantages, both physically and mentally. Whether you're a sportsman, an adventurer, an amateur, alone, with family or friends, this outdoor activity lets you discover the wonderful landscapes of our region and enjoy what nature has to offer. Walking is for all ages, and you'll find several categories of hikes in Vaison Ventoux Provence.

For my part, there are two places where I love walking more than anything....
Village de Sablet avec les Dentelles de Montmirail
The first is right next door to me - yes, I'm lucky enough to live very close to the Dentelles de Montmirail. Leaving Sablet on Sunday mornings, my husband and I set off on foot to explore these famous rock formations, artistically chiselled by erosion. Landscapes of vineyards, oak forests, Mediterranean vegetation, rock faces and limestone roll by as we arrive at my favorite spot! In a shady, almost secret valley, Prébayon and the ruins of its monastery appear! A mysterious place steeped in religious history, dating back to the 7th century when 18 nuns lived in this abbey, almost cut off from the world.

If you dare to step forward, you'll discover some beautiful oratories and some mysterious large round egg-shaped rocks in the riverbed.

We continue on our way, crossing the Devil's Bridge over the Trignon. Our aim this time is to reach the highest point of the Dentelles de Montmirail via the Chambre du Turc. This hike promises to be a thrill, but beware of those who are afraid of heights!
After passing through the scree, we skirt the rocky cliff and finally spot the cave known as the "Chambre du Turc". We cross the cave with a few easy climbing steps on weathered rock, and finish our ascent at the summit of the Dentelles Sarrasines! And from here, the view is literally spectacular! Mont Ventoux on one side and the Rhône valley on the other.
Don't worry, my husband and I love a challenge, but there's something for everyone.
And for my second favourite hiking spot, I'll be telling you all about it very soon!
