Nestled on a promontory amidst a vast expanse of vines, Cairanne enjoys a breathtaking view from the old village.
Discover the old village of Cairanne by wandering through the narrow streets and calades. They will lead you to the keep, then to the chapel of Saint-Roch, near the Porte d'Autan.

Follow the ramparts around the village.

You'll come to the three towers of Cairanne, remnants of the Templar Commandery, and the Romanesque and Gothic parish church of Saint-André. The charming chapels of Notre-Dame des Excès and Saint-Geniès are also worth a visit.

Stop off at the "Quenin-Constant" garden, laid out on the site of a house destroyed by a German shell in 1944. The view over the valley and vineyards is a reminder that these territories belonged on the left to the Principality of Orange, in the center to the Pope and on the right to the Kingdom of France.

At the foot of the Belvedere, in the Notre-Dame-de-la-Vigne-et-du-Rosaire chapel, there are some remarkable stained-glass windows.

Marked by its historic past and renowned wine tourism, Cairanne is a charming village in a postcard-perfect setting.

Follow one of the many walking and hiking trails that criss-cross the commune, such as the GR4. These trails offer panoramic views of the vineyards and the Dentelles de Montmirail.

DID YOU KNOW?
In the Middle Ages, the small fortified village of Cairanne belonged successively to the Counts of Toulouse, then to the Hospitallers and finally to the Popes. The sovereign pontiff reserved the annual tithe, which at the time amounted to twelve barrels of Cairanne!

HIGHLIGHT
The Caveau du Belvédère is the 1st wine cellar to be created in the Vaucluse in 1959, with the aim of bringing together the wines of the appellation and introducing them in a warm and pleasant setting. Here you'll discover the wines of Cairanne, the last classified Côtes-du-Rhône "Cru".
