From 10/23 to 11/3, Vaison-la-Romaine's Archaeological Park is offering an exciting program to make the most of the autumn vacations. There's something for everyone: whether you're a solo, duo, family or friend, follow the guides!

Guided tours :
  • Guided tours of the La Villasse archaeological site: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 2.30pm. Explore the remains of ancient Vasio (rue des boutiques, maison au dauphin...) and meet its inhabitants and learn about their daily lives.

  • Guided tours of the Puymin archaeological site: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 2.30pm. The hill of Puymin is a district of the ancient city, home to luxurious private residences and public monuments, including the theater.

  • For children, a tour entitled "La Vie des Romains racontée aux enfants" ("Roman life as told to children") is offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 am. Meet at the La Villasse site.

Entertainment :
  • History of writing" workshop for children Mondays at 10:30 am. After a short explanation of the evolution of writing, from pictograms to the Latin alphabet, children will discover several Roman inscriptions in the museum. Then it's their turn to write! They'll carve letters into plasterboard. A great opportunity to learn about epigraphy! Ages 8 and up. Reservations recommended on 04.90.36.50.48. Price: €5 in addition to pass* ticket for entry to ancient sites.

  • "Murder Party at the ancient sites on Sunday October 29.
!!! THE TWO SESSIONS of the Murder Party originally scheduled for 10am and 5pm ARE CANCELLED.
Ages 12 and up. Reservations recommended on 04.90.36.50.48. Price: €6 in addition to pass* ticket for entry to ancient sites.
*Pass ticket price: free for children under 9 / Young people 10-17: €4 / Adults: €9.

If you wish, you can take an audio-guided tour and discover the history of Vaison-la-Romaine over the course of a day, as you wish. The audio-guide (multilingual and children's version in French) is available from the archaeological museum for €2, in addition to the pass ticket.
Pas d'Histoire' with Mélanie Bienfait, a guide and storyteller specializing in Roman antiquity and with an unmistakable Provencal accent, is organizing tours of Vaison-la-Romaine and the village of Crestet for the autumn vacations, subject to registration.

  • It's possible to travel through 3,000 years of history in 1h30! Between ancient sites, Place Monfort, the Romanesque cathedral and the Roman bridge, Mélanie will give you anecdotes, chronology... a guided tour of Vaison-la-Romaine where you won't see the time go by! RDV Sunday 22/10 at 10:30 am in front of the Tourist Office. Price: €8/person.

  • Head for the Haute Ville with a guided tour of the medieval town and its church. Meet on Monday 23/10 at 4pm at Place du Poids. Price: €8/person.

  • Discover the authentic little village of Crestet on a guided tour, with its calades, its church partly carved out of the rock, its streets lined with sculptures... and as a reward, a sumptuous view of Mont Ventoux from the château square. RDV either Tuesday 24/10 at 4pm or Monday 30/10 at 10:30am. Price: 8€/pers.

  • A guided and dramatized nocturnal tour of "Les Fantômes de l'Histoire" (The Ghosts of History), where you'll discover some of the people who once inhabited this medieval city, and who may still haunt it... Between history and tales, legends and real facts, come and dream, laugh or tremble either on Sunday 29/10 at 8.30pm or on Friday 3/11 at 8.30pm. Price: €10/person.
